our Solaris just blew up

It's the ballast. We can get one half of the light to come on, but the ballasts don't seem to be interchangeable because the other side won't light. There was a blown fuse in the bad ballast but something must have made it blow.

Yea, I loved the lights features, but the Chineese soldering was worse then bad. After the third time a LED mod lost a light, I sold mine, SPS don't forgive much. Check for salt creep on the fixture and the ballast, They didn't do a good job of sealing the electronics in the fixture. Also maybe dust build up in the fixture, the fans bring in a bunch of junk.

Thats awful sorry to hear that. I also have a bunch of PFO stuff that I hope will hang in there a little longer. I hate that electric smell.

do you need to borrow a light for a couple days, i have 2 250 MH with 20k bulbs that i am not using while i have my tank tore down. let me now Matt 400-1937

Actinics are better than nothing I put my tank in a 5 day black out to battle dinos and all mycoral including Sps were fine. Have u tried searching on how to fix it here? I know a lot if people are building their own led fixtures I know the concept between the two should not be too far off

Sorry to hear that. I think Rich (richpoolboy) has some parts for the solaris. As far as keeping light on the tank I wouldn’t worry too, too much; the ocean is never light all the time (stormy days, cloud cover, etc). I have some 48” T5’s you are more than welcome to use if need be. PM me if you could use them. Best wishes.
