IF you do break down your tank, you'll still be posting here, right? :(
Of course! We'll still have the TBS tank, so the pictures will be of what's in that tank. ;)

pat, i don't understand. do you have auto topoff? since i have no sumps i manually topoff with a gallon milk jug and a piece of tubing. witn no sump and glass tops i don't get a lot of water loss, thats why i went that route.i learned a long time ago that we get a lot of power failures in this area.

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted in this thread. My mixed TBS reef is going on it's 1st birthday so I thought I would post some pics. In the last year, the tank has "Grown" from a 37Gal to a 75 Gal, and for Christmas will go into a 125 Gal RR! It's been staying pretty stable all year, although I have diatoms every now and then. Here's the pics.

Pat, why don't you give it a week or 2 before you definately decide to sell. I know I get frustrated and have been tempted to sell everything. Your right that you would never get out of it what you put in it. You have to remember you and your husband don't always agree about the TBS tank. To me that would be a greater frustration.

Well, I listed the tank and some of it's contents for sale, and have a buyer for the tank, stand, sump some fish, some LR and a bunch of corals. I'm happy and sad at the same time.

Pat, sorry to hear you are getting rid of your tank. I know how excited you were when you first got it. I hope you are able to get another tank and be more successful with the equipment than you were with this one.

Talk about frustration.......after our second bout with red slime, we finally got rid of it, only to now see the start of some green hair algae!!! Sheesh!! We just have two small spots right now and am hoping to keep it contained.

On the other hand, we had a spontaneous eruption of the red macro algae that we love!! We had put several types into the main tank but the mithrax crabs ate it all. Then, just a few weeks ago, some of the red stuff mysteriously started growing again. Since then we have found three types of the red macro algae growing in the main tank. And we finally have some good macro algae growing in the sump since we got rid of the red slime. We have some halemedia, some green stuff that looks like green gracillaria and a small piece of caluerpa. It was just one leaf stuck among the green gracillaria looking thing but has taken off and is now about 6 inches long. We ordered some chaeto and as soon as that arrives will get rid of the calurepa.

We also finally were able to locate our 4th fish, the neon wrasse!! Yeah!! We will finally be adding another fish once he finishes quarantine!! We should receive him about Wednesday of this coming week.

It's okay Sally. I'm really not planning on getting another tank. The tank wasn't the problem. The worry was. I think this is going to be like a huge weight off my shoulders. I've had some friends PM me with offers for pumps, etc, which I really appreciate.

We'll still have the TBS tank, so it's not like there won't be a tank anymore. I want to sell some of the TBS rock along with some of the rock in my tank, then we can have a mixed tank, and there will be more room in it with not as much rock. I also plan to transfer many of my colorful corals over to the TBS tank.....
So...you will still be getting great pictures. Just that it will be from the TBS tank.:p

I'm glad to hear your battle with the slime is almost gone. That has to be really frustrating.:(

I also want to know what controller this is! Looks really nice!!
It isn't any normal aquarium controller. It is a Crestron control system that is normally used for home automation and Audio/Video control. I program them for a job, so I integrated mine with my tank.

pat - it's a tough choice but if you'll feel better at night then it's definitely worth selling. Sometimes we forget but reef tanks should be "fun" and not stressful (although with the amount of money we invest in this hobby that is not always easy to manage).

I've been at my new job for about 4 months now and the guy that was supposed to be my cohort on my team resigned...which means much much more work my way. I'm struggling to keep the work / balance and just keeping up with the tank maintenance has been my #1 priority. Unfortunately posting on the site has taken a slightly lower priority...

About a year ago when I started down this road - there were some folks posting problems with their Cladocora arbuscula (tube coral) - the brown stuff that comes in huge batches on tbs rock. Well - my tank for whatever reason is going thru this issue as well. All of the tissue has receded and I cannot finger why. I also unfortunately do not have the time to truly investigate it - since the hammer/frogspawn/torch corals all appear fine - I'm less inclined to do any kind of diligent work to find out why.
