I just discovered some aggression by my Acan this morning. Check out these mesenterial filaments! Keep this in mind when placing your acans!

One of my urchins pushed this favites into range! DOH! The favites is now on the other side of the tank.

Wow!! That's amazing. How close where they before you noticed it?

Got more of the tank cleaned out. Little by little I'll get there.

They were probably about 1.5 to 2" apart before the attack. after I used a chopstick to remove the filaments the favites was only about 1/3" away from the acan. I suppose it is possible the acan pulled it closer, but I doubt that. My darn urchins move stuff around on the sand bed all the time and all three of them were on that side of the tank this morning.

BTW....I noticed my urchins spawning last night too. Never a dull moment in my tank!

I've never seen the urchins spawn. These are the typical urchins we all get with the gulf TBS?

The eyelash blenny continually moves stuff around in the tank. He has taken 2 zoa frags and knocked them off the rock they were on. Bob keeps moving them back or to another area where he's hoping they'll stay, but the fish goes back and knocks them off. He also loves to move the sand around with it's tail, and makes the water very messy for a little bit!
I watched it try to go into a hole in the rock the other day, and almost got stuck because the hole was so small. So it turns around and "backs into" the hole. He is a character!!

Yep these are the black and purple spined urchins from the gulf rock. I have 4 of them, 3 in main tank, one in the sump. I saw two of them pumping out sperm, didn't see what the other two were doing.

Here is a picture of one of mine:

That sounds like a funny, but annoying blenny Pat :)

Pat, I have yet to see a molt from our pistol shrimp (s). I know they are still in there and still alive as I hear the popping all the time. In fact, this morning, I was in the far room from the tank and heard three of the loudest pops I have ever heard! I had to run into the room to make sure they had not cracked the glass with those!! :)

:)

:)

I got a present yesterday...a "finished all my classes and all my applications" present from my husband.

He (she?) has already been cruising all over the tank eating pods. I'm planning to start some copepod cultures after the holidays so I'll be assured of having enough to feed him.

A really cute face! And I love the way they sort of hover around the tank....reminds me a bit of a helicopter :)
I agree. I keep saying it doesn't swim, but floats around. Hovering is a better word. :p

Here's some pictures I just took:

And here is the little terror and what he's probably thinking:

I really think that's about as much as that sun coral opens. Even though this one was the nicer shaped one, the one Jan bought opens much more fully than this one. Turns out, this one is the one that needs TLC, not the other. :(

That blenny makes more mess in that tank than I care to have.....but he's so ugly, he's cute. He's such a little scutch.

I got it from Reeftopia when I got all the snails, and they list it as an eyelash blenny. It didn't even look like a fish when I got it. It was about Ã"šÃ‚¼" long, and transparent. I highly doubted it would even live. Now it's about 3Ã"šÃ‚½" long and pesky.
It went down the overflow box last month. Bob just kept saying he couldn't find Benny. When he did his water change 3 or 4 days later, sure enough he was in the overflow. He got him down to the sump, and I netted him and got him back into the tank.

I don't think it goes near the pistol.
