Hey Now Carlab,

Thanks for the reply! Yeah...you are correct...this is gulf rock!

Richard got back to me and told me the keys site was destroyed by Wilma.

Yeah tons of cup corals and today many of them have been opening. This rock is so much fun.

I can't wait to get my part two!

ammonia is now inbetween .25 and .50 almost 24 hours in the tank. My deltec mce600 is doing a primo job at keeping this water quality decent I believe...not to mention the packing job and methods Richard employs to get this stuff to us asap.

I have decided to keep the caulerpa in for now as I would much rather have that be competing with the hair algae for nutrients than all hair algae. Plus it does look beautiful...

take care,
Jared

Pat and Bob are here in the Tampa area. They just went to check into their hotel and will be back later. Pat has taken a ton of pictures of our tank and we will post some of the best ones once we get them downloaded. It's so nice to finally meet someone from here on RC!!! :)

lossman,

Nice! I am aiming to do what you have done. Serious gulf only biotope...everything from the gulf!

I love that condy in your tank! What a centerpiece!

take care,
Jared

Hey Now Jaredt.....your rock looks real nice!
I could tell right away it's gulf rock.....(cause I emailed Richard and he told me.
We'l be home on Tuesday....I'll be back on in the afternoon as long as the plane doesn't crash.
Talk then.
-Pat

P.S. I am so nice and tan...and just loving this weather.
Bob caught a Sting Ray and I only caught a little tiny fish. :(

Jared- looks great! I hope your cycle goes smoothly.

Pat & Sally- hope you're having a great time (and getting lots of pics!)

Pat and Bob spent the evening with us yesterday. Pat took a TON of pictues and will be sending them to me when she gets home. We had a wonderful time. Pat and Bob are awesome people. Hope the rest of you get to meet them someday too!!!

Sally

Hi, I just installed part 1 of my package on Saturday and was wondering how long it would take to see some ammonia. If I don't see any, does that mean the tank is cycled or do I need to do something to make it happen. New to hobby and all help is appreciated. Thanks

hey now jallen,

welcome aboard my friend...i am new here too! My rock has been in my tank for nearly three days.
Just test ammonia several times throughout the day if you have time. If you dont get any your lucky!

It's really as simple as Richard lays out in the directions for setup.

take care,
Jared

Thanks,
It's very exciting. Everything is going so well, it has been as simple as Richard said. If I don't get the ammonia, then I don't get a cycle. Should I worry about that or just wait a couple of weeks and order part 2.

You should also try testing for nitrites and nitrates. It could be that the bacteria in the tank are converting the ammonia to nitrite. You may just be one of the lucky ones who has a really easy cycle :) We'd love it if you'd post some pics of your tank....we LOVE pictures.

Welcome to the TBS Owners Society! :) We should have some kind of name anyway.

You may never have a big ammonia spike. I didn't with either package.

That's ok Dennis, I had a big enough spike for both of us :D

Morning Folks,

Placed my order late Thursday the 4th and Richard called the morning of the 6th with a waybill number.

Southwest however wasn't as cooperative. I got them on the 7th about 15 hours after they should have been here.

Got them home, in the tank and several hours later had... rocks.
Turned on the pumps and skimmer and such and went to bed last night and got up this AM to a perfectly clear tank. I did some scaping' this morning and installed my lights.

This morning it was at 1.2

25% water change. I'll test again later tonight.
