you prob already considered this - byt you may want to not use full light period for a few days gradually working your way back to whatever you like - so you don't freak/burn the lefe

Of course that will be great to see new pictures Danielle.
Yesterday after Bob got the lights back up, it was too bright in the room to get good pictures. The window lights were reflecting in the tank. So last night I went in and turned the lights on and took a few shots:

Roger is taking care of me. It appears that one of the streams has something wrong with it and I sent it back this morning for repair.

I'm now pretty sure that this is a fire coral (no I haven't touched it :) )

In this close-up you can see the little "hairs" better

You should watch that fire coral especially since I see your hammer pretty close to it. Mine has wiped out anything on the rocks that it touches.

Thanks Brian & Peggy! I was pretty pleased with the pictures. They just don't seem quite as "clean" as Pat & Dennis's pics. They're pics always look like there's no glass and no water surrounding the corals and fish.

Thanks for the warning Dennis, I'll keep an eye on it. This actually came as a hitchhiker on the rock and hasn't seemed to spread at all. I hope it doesn't spread...I really like my hammer and it's location :)

You should see how mine has spread.

The orginal piece was the branch on the left. All the orangy tan color on the rocks are the fire coral growing. All the rock gets those little hairs all over it. Strange thing is the fish swim around it and the crabs crawl on it and it doens't seem to bother them but if you touch it with the back of your hand or wrist you will know it.

Danielle,
Your pictures are great! In the first picture, is that all mushrooms on the upper left hand side?
Yep, it sure does look like fire coral to me. I'd keep an eye on it as Dennis has said and showed how it does spread.
I also love your hammer. I love how it curves like that.:)

Dennis, have you removed any or attempted to take any out? If so, has it grown back?

Nope, but I should do something before it takes over the whole rock.

I actually sold off my fire coral colony as it was just too big and I found it encrusting another rock. I chipped off the little bit growing on the new rock and it hasn't come back. I did keep one frag and have mounted it on a small rock. I'm going to keep that rock on the sandbed so hopefully it doesn't spread and the only choice it will have will be to branch :)

I was just realizing that I've had Part 1 for more than a year now....so I thought I'd show some recap pictures :D

WOW!!! Your tank sure has come a long way!!
I remember when it had all the algae growing all over it! LOL
When did you get part 2? I remember you waited forever....just don't recall how long.

I got part 1 on 2/25/05 & part 2 on 5/16/05. So I must have waited about 2 months for part 2. I desperately needed a clean-up crew in a few of the pics :) I was looking through my photobucket account and couldn't believe the difference between then & now....personally I like it better without all the hair algae :D
