You could always take it to the LFS. They may not give you anything for it but they would probably take it.

Yep, I asked Richard not to send me any anemones and I got a free brain coral instead :) Too bad the brain corals were killed by the red tide, it will take them a while to repopulate.

I'm so PI$$ED off right now. I came home to find that my Longnose Hawkfish went carpet surfing and I never even got a chance to take a picture of him sitting in any of my Monti Caps. :furious:

55 gallon w/ overflow
20 gallon sump/ refugium w/ light
6x65 watt power compact lights 2 20k actincs, 2 10k, 2 50/50 w/ 8 moonlights
coralife super skimmer 65
825 gph flow
110 lbs LR (TBS rock) 10 lbs precured LFS rock
55 lbs LS (TBS Sand) 20 lbs precured LS

We received our first part of the package on May 6th. Never went over .50 ammonia and was at 0 on the 12th.
(Tank had already been cycled with 10 lbs of LFS rock for over an 8 week period. Ammonia went well above 8.0 :eek2: in one day with that rock)
Emailed Richard on the 12th and he promptly sent my second half the same day. Talk about service!! We want to thank Richard for the extra goodies he added into the shipping boxes.
We are still in awe of all the living creatures we are finding each day.
I will be posting more pics as the tank matures. But I thought you might like to see a nice lil hitchhiker that was found inside one of the rocks. Can anyone Identify??

Sorry I couldn't get a picture of his/her friends (2 pistol shrimp) that live in the same hole. Nor could I get a clear picture of the 2 mantis that are soo darn shy. :( But this is their home.

Brian - Sorry to hear about the hawkfish. I have one but have never seen him do anything like that.

Alatriel - I think someone else got one of those too but I don't remember the name of it.

annetate- I was very surprised to find a hitchhiking fish(es)

krajacich- Wow you are fast. I checked TBS site but I guess I missed that . Now I just have to figure out what it eats.

I do believe that there are two of them hiding out in the rock. I've only positively seen the one pictured, but as I was looking at their hole I noticed another fin.
:love1: Maybe?

What the ??????

What the ??????

OK. I never thought I'd see this or that it was even possible, but one of my coral frags fell off the rock and the current pushed it into the Flower Anemone. It even had some puttty and rock attached to it. The anemone ate it!:eek1: I'm a bit upset about this one as well now as it wasn't a cheap piece. Flash Gordan monti lives no more. :( This just isn't my week.

Brian,

Sorry about the losses :( I was PI$$ED when I lost my clownfish to jumping. I went to HD and bought a $1.50 piece of gutter guard and the back of my tank is now 90% covered, yet still lets hot air out. Could that work in your case, or do you have an open top?

For those of you that don't follow my thread regularly and are picture deprived, I just posted about a dozen pictures in the thread:

Excuse me for interjecting with a TBS question, but you guys are the best collection of TBS reefers that I know of. I'm setting up a 90G tank with a DSB, and will be ordering the TBS Package for it. I'm supplementing the TBS LS with OldCastle aragonite sand to get me to a sand bed depth of 4-4.5".

Can anyone tell me what the TBS LS looks like/consists of? My aragonite sand is oolitic, and i'm a little concerned that the TBS LS is crushed coral-like, judging from the few pics i've come across. Should I be concerned and just skip the LS?

Hello everyone!!

Wanted to share our experience with TBS. I placed order on Sunday night 10 PM via the website. Monday AM, Richard contacted me, via email, that he would have to dive for the rock and would get back to me. Tuesday, he called me and notified me that the shipment would go out Wednesday AM. Received packages last night at 7 PM at the El Paso airport using SWA.

When I got home, opened boxââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s and all I can say is WOW!! My wife, kids and I spent a few hours watching crabs, brittle stars, and all kinds of life on the rocks moving around. Nothing like the rock I got at the LFS!!

This is my wife ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œspottingââ"šÂ¬Ã‚.

I set up a Tupperware container with my setup water. Let sit over night, then placed in tank. So far less than 0.25 ammonia!!

Techreef - I used about 3.5 to 4 inch of aragonite sand and placed TBS sand on top of that. I would say that the sand from TBS is like what you would see as the ocean waves hit the shore - A mixture of sand and crushed coral. I will try and get a better picture of mine as soon as I can.

You can look in my gallery at the before pictures of the tank. Thanks for looking!
