Outer Orbit 250w +T5 combo

Does anyone using this fixture have it sitting on the mounting legs or on top of your tank? My tank is a 65AGA. Other than the heat( it heats the water to 86 w/out the chiller) is this too close to the water. The SPS seem to love it. The Zoos and some softies don't.

i run the same fixture on the legs that came with it with few problems. my temp runs 80-83 and on a hot day like today may hit 84. i have a 90gal aga with 30gal sump with a honeywell fan blowing over the top of the sump. i also added an extra computer fan into one of the other holes in the fixture. i guess with the combination of all that i've had no problems with heat and love the fixture. do you still have the mh's and t5's that came with the unit in or have you switched your bulbs out?? just wandering as i'm getting ready to change mine out for something a little more blue.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have the same bulbs. Some have complained they are too yellow. I think it is too white. I wonder if some of that has to do with the fact that it soo bright!? I am thinking about switching to the Phoenix 14k bulbs. How have your corals reacted to the light? I'm still acclimating mine so I'm not sure how it will turn out.

actaully my setup is still pretty new and all i have as far as corals are some zoas(taking it slow this time around). i agree that they are to white and am planning 14k phoenix myself but am concerned this maybe to blue with the t5's. there's another thread on this same page with a person getting ready to try 14k's with different(more white)t5 combo. hopefully it works out and he posts a pic.
