So I have been trying to get together a plan to run plumbing from my 60g cube to my garage. I want to set up a large sump and fuge to grow mangroves in the garage. I thought about going under the house but after going under there and looking around, I think it would be much easier to run the lines on the outside of the house. The lines would go out the wall behind the tank, run along that same wall then back in and into the garage. I measured everything up and I am talking 22 horizontal feet and 9 vertical feet, 5 at the tank and 4 in the garage. Couple of questions:
Running lines on the outside what do I need to consider other than trying to regulate temp? It get's cold here but not below freezing very often and I would think freezing wouldn't be a factor anyway as long as the water was constantly moving. My thought is to use the AC conduit and insulate the pipe inside that.
I am currently using 1" pipe on the tank, would I need to use larger pipe for the majority of the run or should I keep it the same the whole run?
I tried using the head loss calculator here on RC but I'm not sure which pump I should use to calculate. I would assume I would need a different pump than the one I am using now? I am using a RO Diablo DC5500 it has a max flow of 1450 GPH and max head of 10.5ft.
If I do, any recommendations on a good pump?
Due to the high cost of flex pipe I will have to use ridgid pvc and adapt it to flex at the tank end, I don't want to have to re-do all of the plumbing at the tank. Is there a type of PVC that I should use especially for outdoor applications?
am I just a dummie and should run the lines under the house even if it means drilling the foundation and re-routing other house plumbing?
Thanks for any help.
