Over feeding QT

So I may have put to much food in my QT tank (20Gal long). All parameters are fine for now but am worried about a spike happening as I am doing an uncycled QT. I have a Fire fish and Six Line Wrasse in it. I was thinking of taking my siphoning tube to suck up the food and put it back through a filter sock or filtering it with that first before I put the water back in. I would just do a water change but I am waiting for my thermometer and another heater to come in by mail to start mixing my own SW and even then after that I have to wait 24hrs for the salt to age. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

In the absence of any water to replace then your filter idea should be ok. It is important to have some prime or something similar on hand when QT. Good luck.

FWIW in a pinch I have used saltwater that has only been mixed for a few hours.

Would I use the prime right away or just when I start seeing a rise in the parameters? Also I haven't medicated at all since there are no signs of anything yet, the fish are healthy and are eating. Should I medicate to be on the safe side or wait until something shows up.

I use an ammonia alert badge and will add some prime in when I see something on that. If your doing tests then the same goes if you see anything on them. With all that being said it will not hurt anything if you add some prime.

The only medication that I proactively use is prazipro. I will do two rounds at some point during my QT protocol.
