overdose help

Hello,

Last night somehow, someway, my timer for my dosing pump went on and dosed a full (little bottle) of Bi ionic Alk. My alk was 8 yesterday and 14 this morning when I checked. All acro polyps where out and nothing showed any signs of bleach, yet. Though all my rocks, front glass, output to cpr fuge, and mp10 are stained white. It is a 26 gallon bow front, with 25 lbs of live rock. I have a 5 gallon water change ready for me at lunch time, was thinking about another 5 gallon mix WC for doing either tonight or tomorrow morning. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated, hopefully I get through with minimal loss.

just do a couple of water changes. double check CA++ and MG. the white stuff is probable CACO3 [calcium carbonate] so probably ure ca++ has dropped too.

id Re-new carbon as well, in case some organisms might have died and releases something.

also be careful... a ph up around 14 can be damaging to skin and especially your eyes! i would strongly advise some eye protection unless the ph has dropped when you do the water change
the white deposits will be fairlysoft and removeable with vinegar (you will want to clean any powerheads, pumps that have large amounts on them) the white is calcium carbonate wich is not harmful (its effectively coral skeleton) so your rocks will be fine, might take a while for life to re form on top the new layer but it should no problem

Thanks, did a 5 gallon change at lunch, acros are still looking good, only had a jawfish in the tank, haven't seen him yet. Changed carbon also, good call.
Thank you both for your input. All advise and help is appreciated.

Alk is 14 not pH. If pH is 14 everything would be dead in the tank.
