Overflow before settling tank

Hi guys, I have two tanks that are connected to each other by two bulkheads the tanks are back to back. I have a coast to coast overflow in the second tank, which I believe they have great water skimming capability. do you think I should add one to the first tank before it goes into the second tank? Would there be any benefit to this? If I don't put one there will just be a pasage from tank to tank. It doesnt make sense to me to skim the display then dump it into the second frag tank to finally go into my settling tank then skimmer. I have pictures in my build thread or on the video if you don't understand my question. I would really apreciate some opinions

Any opinions would be great. I have a video of the system here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kddu914tFJQ

I would put something on the display to protect those passages. an overflow box with with a slotted top and screen cover would probably work. If you were to leave the display as is, I would think your emergency overflow will be used frequently.

i would use two return pumps, or t off the return pump into each tank seperately, then run each drain direct into the settling tank. your dumping all the waste and surface skim into the second tank now.
