So I scored a tank at the swap, now I need an overflow. I ahve the acrylic to make one, but before I started gluing, anybody got one in the junk box? Any condition, I'll make it work. Hopefully something cheap (blew my $$ at the swap!)...

also looking for a cheap used aqualifter to keep the bubbles pumped out.

if i hadn't priced my glass-holes.com one w/ mine, i'd sell it to ya cheap, but it's promised w/ the tank that's pending

i do have (3) 1.5" bulkheads, the screw-in street elbows & the glass drill bit if ya want em....CHEAP

just let me know

chuck i got an aqua lifter for ya...its an extra one i had which i thought didnt work properly cause its soooo slow....so i bought a new one to only find out that its supposed to be slow like that....lol...ill bring it tomorrow

i have a brand new aqualifter in package, brand new aqualifter prefilter, and used acrylic overflow ready and waiting for you. The lifter was 16 the prefilter was 4 and the overflow was 50, Ill let it go for $40 if you are interested. I had the overflow on my 55 but switched it with another i found at a garage sale with a very deep back resavour so that I could put carbon in it. Just PM me i will load it in my car tonite and can drop it off tomorrow after work and before i head back to the boro.

Supertech- John and I had a lunch date set tomorrow, looks like I'm buying :). Definitely interested in the box though- can you tell me how wide it is. Planning to hang on the side of a 38 long (it's only 12" deep).

James, drilling would be my pref, I bought the tank at the swap (a "2nd" from Ocea that was better than my $715 "first" from AGA). I told them I wanted to drill, they talked me out of it. Plus it's my QT now and I don't want to take it down.

Plan to plumb it into the main system and break the overflow siphon when I need a QT.

Can't say enough good about Ocea- they have another loyal customer.

Thx guys!

Just curious as to why you're passing on the drilling. Everything I've heard about glass-holes has been great. There is a certain level of risk I suppose, but other than that, I don't know of any advantage to a siphon overflow (even price... those suckers are not generally very cheap).

yeah, my only bad experience drilling was my own stupidity.....i put alot of pressure on the bit trying to drill all my holes quick & ended up chipping them pretty bad.

the next time i drilled the holes, i put almost ZERO pressure on the bit & they came out wonderful....just took what seemed like an eternity listening to all that grinding noise LOL

Allright I think you guys talked me into drilling- James, will pm you, I'm interested. Not urgent, the tank is a QT right now and I can't drain it for a while. Thx!

EVEN THOUGH I WANT TO SELL MY BOX, I WOULD DRILL TOO, ITS THE BEST WAY TO GO IN THE LONG RUN! MY NEXT TANK WILL BE DRILLED/REEF READY, THE PEACE OF MIND IS WORTH THE EXTRA COST!

agreed...that is why i was going the glassholes box route. wether you do a top-to-bottom overflow, or the overflow box like they sell, if you drill the bulkheads for the overflow & returns as high as possible, you have very little chance of a flood in the event of a power outage or pump failure. as long as the sump can hold the water that would drain to the bottom of the bulkheads, you are golden.

to me that seems better since if it is just a power outage, once it comes back on, the pump refills the tank & then since it is gravity fed, you don't have to re-establish a siphon like you would w/ a HOB setup. WIN-WIN situation as far as im concerned.
