Overflow Box Question

I didn't know much when i first started this hobby. Now that i am 3 months in i know i need an overflow box. Unfortunately I built my own overflow and it is not consistent. My big problem is that i set my display tank about 1in from the wall, so I think i am too close to use a HOB. Moving it out would be very hard at this point.

After looking at measurements of HOB on amazon they use several words i am unsure about. Is the bulkhead measurement they give the measure of the front box in the tank or the rear one?

Any other ideas would also be appreciated. My tank is 125 gallons so moving would be probably impossible.

you can get a eshopps and place the HOB overflow on the side, a eshopps 800 or the 1200 will work great. I have a 60gal with a 300 with a 1" down pipe and gurgle buster installed and it flows over 500gph so a 800 should flow over 1k gph.

The bigger the drain the better IMHO. Reduces noise and provides for extra flow as needed.

Gurgle buster is a must (or a herbie overflow design).
