I want to set up a sump for my 90 gal tank. What size overflow box should I get. I'm thinking that a 1200 gph box will do the trick or will it be overkill? I'm thinking of getting a CFL Aquatics box off of ebay. Also any pump suggestions would be great.
Using the 3 - 5x rule of thumb, you need ~ 270 - 450 GPH flow from your return. A 600 GPH overflow box would work fine. I'm not familiar with that overflow. Got a link? Be careful. Some HOB overflows work well, and some do not.
Looks OK from what I can see. If you get the one with the dual U Tubes, you need to have at least 400 GPH+ or so to keep both U Tubes running without air accumulation.
I have a lifereef and love it. I did about 3 "power outage" tests and it never overflowed and it always restarted on its own. I saw earlier today on the used equip page there is someone selling a 600 gph for $80 shipped.
