Question I have a 75gal AGA with the center overflow. I noticed today that there is a lot of long hair algae building up inside the overflow. Should this be cleaned out.....or just throw some large snails in there, or just let it go.?

Becareful with the snails, they can clg up the drain and cause a... well you know.
Thats why I said LARGE Snails...:)......The drain screen holes are pretty small

My overflows have the same thing, I just clean them out. Yes, it's a monumental PITA, but I just try to think of it as nutrient export!

I'll be following the thread to see if anyone comes up with a solution. I know quite a few people with this same problem and unfortunately, no one has been able to give me a good solution.

Brian, IME everytime I start a new tank this algae grows heavy for a few months and then all of the suddens it stops, I do clean it regularly every couple of weeks until nothing gets produced anymore.
I usually just run my index and thumb along the edge and remove it, you really don't need to do much more than that, it will fix it self
