overflow placement, opinions please

Where would you place an internal over flow in a 2'x2' tank?
Back glass only. One corner, both corners, center, full span?

I would do:
1 corner or full span.

What are you planning for returns? I would do center or almost full span with a return on either end

I was picturing a single return but dual returns would nice too.

have you considered a g lass holes overflow, saves space.

Yes i have. I thought about using one on my last build but opted for a custom made box instead. Although the glass holes design is very stealthy i'm concerned that the skinny profile might exacerbate the slurping noise associated with these types of overflows. If i decide to go forward with this build i may choose to use a slightly modified custom made version of the glass holes design. At this point the box itself isn't my concern. It's the location that i'm pondering. So far most people i asked suggested using a corner mount box or one that spans the full length of the back glass. I may have to flip a coin to decide this one.

John, I have 2 gl*******s kits currently in service with no gurgling. They will custom make anything you want as well. Great company.

John what kind of screens are you using on the bulkheads?

I use the screening that came with the kit. I do not know what it is called.

On g holes website it says "bulkhead strainers do not fit inside our boxes".
The pictures and included parts list doesn't mention or show a strainer.
They sell screens/strainers on the website but they don't look like the style that would fit their boxes.
Curious to see what they sent you.

John it is a pliable mesh material that can be cleaned with water changes. I have the 1.5" drain kit. Nothing has ever gotten stuck inside and it has never clogged. Some bubble algae grows in the teeth of the box, but that is to be expected. You can come check it out anytime you wish. I have any hole saw you will need. Or see you at the meeting on Friday?

If your designing from scratch, did you consider a Bean Animal style drain? Very quiet and moves a lot of water.
