Overflow plumbing...

So I have a pipe running from my self-drilled hole in the back of my aquarium to my sump. The pipe is pretty simple right now. It's just durso-type pipe running straight into the first section of the sump. In the same section is my skimmer (Tunze 9010) and it's having trouble getting bubbles all the to the skimmer cup. (The skimmer's been running for almost a week, still barely gets bubbles to the top)

Is this because the flow from the pipe is messing with it? Is there something that I can do? The flow from the pipe makes a LOT of microbubbles.

The skimmer shouldn't really have bubbles all the way to the top. When the bubbles pop part of the skimate will fly up over the side into the collection cup. The bubbles should be around 2 to 3 inches from the top though each skimmer is different.
