hey gang im new to the overflow and now i have my aquarium set up wth my rock and sand and water and fish in it. now my question is sholud i do an over the edge overflow or not bother at all and just keep a light load of fish and a good skimmer. im pretty pi$$ed that i didnt know abot sump and drilling before i started just provs to make sure you know everything you are doing before hand

I would go with a HOB (hang over Back) overflow if you want a sump. Look at lifereef for really good ones or amaricle(sp) stay away from CPR overflows. You will want one with a "U" tube. There is also www.hurricaefilters.com but I have not heard good or bad about them. Dependng on the size of your tank and your flow needs might need the double "U" tube. HTH
