Overflowing

You should be able to use regular pvc pipe. Make a straight even cut, primer and glue let sit for 2 mins and that should be that.

85lbs in a 55g is a heck of a lot of sand, were you going for a DSB ? If so I think the grain size you chose is too coarse to be effective in that application.

From the pic and the sand I see I would go shallower epecially on a 55g because a DSB is not very useful or practical with the given foot print.

You should only need 60lbs at most.

ahha yea its reg caribsea agronite reef sand but the kicker is i bought some grunge from GARF and it seemd to be full of crushed something and is of a way bigger partical then the reefsand. I am planning on DSb still just thinking i need to remove the bigger crap off the top

For a DSB I would recommend the Carribsea oolite. The reef sand is a little coarse. I didn't see the top of your sand, just what was in the sump pics. Yes I have that good vision. The bigger crap on top of the sand is good for tubeworms and pods to take shelter and to make their bases with, I would leave some if not all.

tank is up and functional atm. Water level in the sump stays at about 6 1/2" seems to be working well no leaks as of yet the overflow siphon looks semi shotty at best. I did order a aqua lifter so i am hoping thats gonna help out. Seems like the mag 7 might over power the water temp in a few days, but we will see. All in all i am psyched its up and running!!!
