overheated Toadstool

I have a beautiful toadstool coral about 4"diameter and 6" tall
in my 90 gal reef about 3 years in my tank and always open

I left them alone for 4 days and when i got back it was slumped over although the polips still extended but not quite as much

I fear that it may have over heated as the house wasn't air conditioned during my absence. and we had a heat wave up to 96
outside temp.

my other softies seem OK I'm working on getting the temp back to normal (about 84 right now)

any suggestions? should i just wait it out - anyone with experience with a wilted toadstool ?

No direct experience in this arena with Toadstools, but a buddy of mine suffered nearly the same thing couple months ago.. evidence suggests just letting it ride, she had some stuff just die quick, but most of her softies have started to recover nicely.. I think a lot of the life on the reef is a bit more tougher than we sometimes belive, and can overcome a bit of an accident now and then.. she now has a chiller..

I had the same thing happen to me. I live in FL, came back from vacation and timer was reset and for some reason a.c. wasn't on...toadstool leather was slumped over but wasn't gummy. I just let it be and it it now fully recovered after about a week.

If the polyps are still extended, its not a big deal. Toadstools flop over like that pretty regularly actually. You can try increasing the water flow around them- that will often perk them up again. Unless you see discoloration or erosion though, I wouldnt be real concerned.
