Overkill lights for this tank? Opinions please!

Hey guys, I need opinions on new lighting and tank as I'm moving into an apartment with girlfriend in 5 months. So I'm planning my next nano build to move over my current nano!

I currently have a 10gallon with shitty Marineland lights but everything is growing quite well.

I want my lights to grow everything possible without a hassle and I was wondering if my current choice is overkill for the size of tank.

Im looking at getting the Maxspec r420r 160w LED lights and also the tank I'm looking for is either a 20-30gallon. My first choice of tank right now is a Innovative Marine nuvo 20gallon.

Would those lights be overkill for the my tank choice as of now?

Thank a lot,
Anthony :)

I have been running the Kessil 160 on a Nuvo 10gal for about a month and a half now.. I only run it at 40% intensity and everything in the tank is happy as can be. That said, I am upgrading to a Nuvo 40 and planning on running the same light. So to say, in my opinion, no, your light won't be an overkill.

Also look into the AI Prime they are a nice little light. I use a Kassil 160 on a 8 gallon tank but it does have light spill so that maybe a concern depending where the tank is in relations with everything else.

The Kessil 160 is only 40 watts. A razor with 160 watts would probably be too much. You could look at the 130 watt Maxspect razor light for 30 gallon, or even the 70 may work for 30 gallons and would be fine for 20 gallons.

I agree with the getting the Kessil 160. Its enough light and these lights have a great shimmer effect.
