Overnight Fishing Trip

Want to take my brother in law who is visiting in April on an overnight fishing trip. Any recommendations for that time of year?

What kind of fishing do you want to do? Do you have gear? Do you have a passport?

I always thought fishing out of San Diego was the best. I like to fish for yellowtail, tuna and bass. An overnight trip could be $250, plus tip, fish cleaning and licenses.

Ya we have passports, that would be fun. Any charters you recommend?

I believe you will need a passport for all trips heading out of SD now.

Since April is kind of before the season really gets going, I would call Fisherman's Landing (619) 221-8500 or Point Loma (619) 223-1627 and see what they have planned.

I have yet to have a bad experience with the SD overnight or greater boats. The day trip boats are pretty horrible because of the crowd-can be more than 50 people!

The 3 day and longer trips are really spectacular. The food is top notch, you learn a ton and get tons of fishing time. I really recommend that you someday take a long range trip.

Hello, The 1 1/2 day trips out of Seaforth Sportfishing have great trips down to Mex and have been getting Yellowtail. Good luck and have fun!

Yeesh...overnight fishing is that expensive? Maybe I'm lucky, but my friend owns a boat, and charges us 200 for a trip. that includes food, beer and licenses. We went lobster fishing last October, and each took home 10 lobsters. In September we went yellowtail fishing and each took home 5 yellow tails (each about 18lbs)

The Thunder Bird is $120 right now, i'm thinking about going on 3/8. $250 would be on the very top side for an over nigher, typically its around $165 ish.

I'm glad that I've found this thread, though it is old. I'm going to try overnight fishing in Florida soon. It is supposed to be a great trip. Also, I want to buy an underwater camera. I've already surfed the internet and found a good review on under-the-open-sky.com/best-underwater-fishing-camera, and Marcum Recon 5 seems to be a good choice. Does anyone use underwater cameras? It would be great to find out other people's thoughts.
