Oversized Tank Stand

I would like to build a stand for my new 90 gallon (48") tank and I was thinking of making the stand wider than 48" so I can put in a larger sump/refugium without being cramped.

This will be my first stand build and I have been looking at the plans here.
If I make the stand wider and add a few vertical supports, I am concerned that the corners of tank will not be resting on corners of the stand,

Instead of having a sump that is as long as your tank, why not have a sump that is as wide as your tank and set it back a few inches for support.

Where would the doors go ? or if the it butts out in the back, it will be away from the wall?

Unless you were going for a display sump, I'd have it go out the back. You can skin the sides with ply, just make it the width of the bottom stand supports. The DT will be out from the wall but the stand won't.

Is there an OF on the DT already? If not, you could always do a BeanAnimal out the back.

Exactly. The picture i posted has the POV from behind the stand.
