Oyster Reef Ecosystem Tank

Great vid Kevin! Your biotope is spectacular! I like the new Norfolk Spots. Did you collect them or were they leftover bait from a fishing trip? Don't be surprised if your Ulva comes back with a vengeance at some point. Mine did. I had a piece about the size of yours, and it grew into a forest. Great fish watching too, with all the very active fish. You've got some serious Grasillaria growing! Oh, and congrats on winning first place in North America! I enjoyed the tour of the system too. Cool setup!
Hi Michael, and Merry Christmas! I hope all is well with you. It's nice to hear from you! Yes, I saw Kevin's video on the other forum and loved it. It is a very cool set up.

Well, I went on Vacation to Florida recently, and left the tank for my buddy to care for (top of water and feed once every three days). I increased the photoperiod to 10 hours a day to accommodate his schedule. The result was crazy macroalgae and nuisance algae growth, turning my tank in to an macroalgal jungle, literally, with little room for the fish. All of the fish were healthy and the tank was fine, but with that much light, despite the increased level of macro algae, also had quite a bit of algae growth on the display tank glass. Here's a video about that, before and after the clean up. I also added some cool decor to the tank to make even more Chesapeake Bay authentic 🤗

Here's an update to the Chesapeake Bay Biotope Oyster Reef Aquarium... I added some new critters in the tank, most notably sea squirts (Mogula manhattensis), some of which were attached to a beer bottle. I guess it wouldn't be a complete Chesapeake theme if it didn't have a beer bottle in it. Well, fish hide in them and critters grow on them, so...there ya go. I added it to the tank. Also, about half way in on the video, I play a prank on a mud crab, not so much a prank, but do something to demonstrate their behavior. Enjoy!
