Thank you Dawn, Jesse and John! Thanks for checking out my blog! I've been a but lazy on the writing side the past couple years. I need to get back into that. I have lots to write about since my outdoors experiences have taken many turns, and a lot more fishing too.

Jesse, I love that we can add the vids easier now. I'm getting used to the site now. I still need to learn a little more about the differences.

I have another video update showing more of my fish room and the beginnings of the reality of my new and improved much larger oyster reef tank project. I made a couple minor scaping changes in the tank, for the better, one that I mention in the video. Can you see the other changes? Maybe the "Eye Spy" approach will generate some conversation. I'll reveal the answer in my next video update. I always loved when I was a kid, going to the Doctor's Office and reading the kids magazine, "Highlights", especially the picture find page. I guess this can be a fish tank version of that. I hope you like the video.

Clean glass on the Potomac river biotope!!!! It looks even better than yesterday.

Thanks for the update on the Oyster cluster biotope. I can't wait to see that one come together. I loved watching version 1 and am very stoked to see this one.

You have me stumped Kevin. I watched the beginning of the last video several times trying to see what is new but to no avail. However, each time I watch it I come to appreciate the tank more and more. It is truly a unique aquarium and especially since it is a true biotope. I have always been dazzled by the really vibrant colors of marine tanks but as I get older, I am coming to appreciate how differing creatures come from differing enviroments and how they interact naturally in their home enviroment. There is a special beauty in that and your tank definitely captures that! Kudos to you.

Who knows, maybe someday I will try keep a true biotope as well, either a Caribbean or Chesapeake.

Thank you Dawn! That means a lot. I fell in love with our native fish many years ago and vowed to build this tank. The oyster reef big tank is my dream tank, and no excuses, it will be up and running this spring.

OK, the big reveal of the secret aquascaping change (it's really a minor thing, nothing to get excited about, but, it does give the tank a tiny bit more character, is revealed in this video:

Oh, I should have noticed those mussel shells, doh! I love the 2 living clams, that is very cool. Do you ever see them open, or do you ever expect to see them open?

I am really excited to see the oyster cluster tank come together. Good luck with hanging the lights.

That has got to be so much fun going out and collecting fish, grasses, rocks and even inverts for your tanks. It almost takes you back to being a little kid and collecting creatures and then trying to keep them, except that you are successfully keeping them. I guess you are part kid and part biologist!

Yeah, it's just like being a kid in my local creek, definitely. The only difference is that we use more modern equipment to collect and get sore as heck afterwards.

Sorry about the video. I had to take it down and edit it, and it's taking more time than I thought. The YT editing software is slow, and when I'm done (almost), it takes a few hours to update. Apparently, although I'm wearing camo shorts and an oversize tee shirt, my reflection in the oyster reef tank appears like I'm not wearing pants. Rather than explain it, I decided to blur those scenes. I'll post again when it's back up. I didn't say anything because I didn't think that it would take this long to fix.

No worries Kevin. Reflections are a huge issue for me as well. I pretty much have to wait for dark.

I love reflections, but being a photographer, it comes with the territory.

The video looks marvelous. I see a cave made with overhanging slate ledge. I always liked your naturalized system. I am now motivated to go to seafood counter at HEB and get some live oysters. PaulB would harvest clams from Long Island Sound and feed his tank the scraps after he eat.
