ozone and sps

Tired
Is ozone a "must" when keeping sps. Ive been keeping sps for about three years now and never had any real problems. Ive always been happy with the appearance of my tank, but today I was told that adding ozone would give me that little extra something missing. Is this true?

I run ozone and the coral seem to color up a little faster but Ionly run it for about 1 week a month the rest of the time I run strictly carbon (ESV)
You have to be careful you don't OD ozoneit can kill the entire tank

Well my controller can handle the ozone for me right? Its the neptune 3 pro, I think that has an orp controller. What are the supposed benefits of ozone?

That I correct I just use a posiden ozoneator direct into my Pm bullet skimmer It seems to do a great job I thought about putting a controler on but haven't gotten around to it
By the way the other thing I noticed is Where I had a devils hand leather I could never put acro"s very close to it now I can

ozone is not a MUST, but it's nice

What issue is there running Tropic Marin Pro with ozone?

TM has never said they do not recommend Ozone, just that they do not use it themselves.

RE: ORP and TM Pro

It has been repeatedly reported to us that the use of our salts caused drops of the ORP but no further adverse effects have been reported.

The ORP mainly is used in aquaria to indicate a organic pollution. Since there are no organic substances in our Tropic Marin Sea Salt or PRO-REEF, organics can not be the cause of the drop of ORP.

Obviously the drop of ORP is caused by reduced inorganic salts like for example iodide but it is hard to tell exactly on a complex mixture like synthetic seawater.

The drop of the ORP after use of PRO-REEF is not specific for PRO-REEF or the indicated batch numbers.

I hope this can dispel the fears of your customers.

Kindest regards

as already stated until now no adverse affects in connection with ORP depression by water changes with our salts have been reported.

We don´t use ozone in our aquaria and so we have no observations to give you concrete recommendations.
To be carefull we recommend to keep ozone dosing constant by regulating dosing manually or to find other precautions to avoid overdosing of ozone.
I think there is no cause to be really concerned about the depression of the ORP if overdosing of ozone is avoided since there are more than three decades of good experiences with our salts.

Thank you and kind regards
