Ozone???

I just purchased Sanders ozone generator. I'm planning to use ozone by injecting it into protein skimmer. If you are using ozone, please post your set up and experience with it.

Most people I know don't run them because you can get similar results by running a good carbon on an average sized reef.

Did you get an ORP controller?

I have used ozone on my reef continousely 24/7 since about 1979 or so. No problems yet.
Maybe next year will be a problem. I can't tell yet.

I believe she has an Apex for ORP control?? I do believe pwhitby has experience with ozone. If he sees this thread, I bet he could chime in.

@Brent. Increased oxidation reduction potential and increased water clarity. I've heard people say less algae growth also.

I actually posted a reply a few days ago...but I guess my phone messed it up.
To repeat:

Ozone works well if controlled. It works on contact time. Injection into a skimmer likely will not work as well as you want. The best bet is to get 50 feet of tubing and feed water/ozone into it, then into the skimmer. The contact time is raised and it should do its job,

I ran mine as needed and used an orp controller to prevent over use.

Hope that helps-
Paul.

Well tankgirl there's a new challenge for you. I wanna see if you can take 50 ft of tubing and make it look neat and organised like the rest of your setup.

Hi there,

Thanks to everybody for your replies. My primary goal is water clarity with ozone use. I strongly belive that water quality(clarity) will assist in best health and development of the corals. I will be starting with approximately 10mg/hr or about 0.1mg/gal of ozone for one hour per day. This should be pretty safe low dosage. I used it for an hour last night and result was very possitive. Injection was done directly into protein skimmer.

That's it for now, stay tuned.
