Ozone

it works very well to aid in the break down of organics, mainly used with a skimmer. however you should place carbon in the output of the skimmer and where the air comes out of the skimmer cup. o3 or ozone can be toxic at high levels.

also its highly encouraged to use a orp controller, if the orp gets to high, well im sure you get the idea, bad things happen...... lol

So it would probably be better to wait until I get a controller. Does anyone know if it helps to kill red turf algae?

That's not what I've read. In one of the reefkeeping articles, it refers to reducing the amount of algae, I just assumed that that meant it killing it as well. Sorry about that.

so indirectly it kills it then..thanks everyone. Nobody really talks about it so I was just wondering if people really used it. Thanks again

it doesnt kill it, it oxidizes or breaks down its food. which helps get rid of nuisance algae
Yes thats if you have good skimming I agree it will reduce the nitrates.
