Ozonizer recommendations

I am interested in purchasing an ozonizer, I have a 90g tank.
Can anyone make any suggestions to me.

What type of tank (fish or reef). How many fish and critters? How many more are you planning?

This is a situation where bigger is not better.

I know how to make your own ozonator, but Im not sure how you would concentrate the ozone and inject it. The design I saw released it to the atmosphere to kill odors. That probably doesnt help, so....free bump!

They the Enaly Ozone generator... the last I saw they were only $44.00. I have been using one for about 7 months, works great... but you do need an ORP controller with it too.

I have a reef tank with 5 and maybe 6 fish in the near future.
1 tang
1 bicolor blenny
1 wrasse
1 prawn goby
1 strawberry basslet
and possibly 1 foxface

really, the first thing to do is check your ORP I would guess. see just how dirty it is..

When I first checked mine, it was under 200

what a difference that made...

Going off of the manufacturer's recommendation of 10mg/hr per 25 gallons, I would recommend a 50 mg/hr ozonizer. I know there is temptation to go with a 100 mg/hr, but I would be careful. Most of the ozonizers have an adjustable output so you will have some control.

Definitely consider an OPR monitor and a HACH DPD Chlorine Test Kit for managing the unit. There was a post today in Reef Discussion "3 ozone questions." You might want to check that out for more info on using the Chlorine Test Kit from HACH.

Also, how do you intend to mix the ozone with your water?

I was going to mix it in through the venturi on my skimmer.

It would also be helpful to include carbon post-skimmer to remove any residual oxidant before the water makes it back to the tank.

DO you have any idea about what ozonizer and controller can be purchased that would provide quality but not be too expensive?

I have not been in the market for one in a long time. If I had to geuss you are looking at $250-300. You might could save money by purchasing an ORP meter rather than a controller.

The merits of controllers versus meters is another subject.

Oh, thanks a lot opiy. yeah, 250-300 looks about right. I have thrown some pieces together on paper for about 175-200, but am not sure of the quality of the products.
