Is there any way to tell whether or not an ozonizer is working?

You could measure your ORP. Other than that, I don't know of any way. The water should look clearer and the skimmer should work alot better if everything is working.

Well, there is one way but I doubt it is the safest way. See if you can smell ozone coming out of it. :lol:

That's what I do
I have ORP meters too, but I just like to know the units are actually putting out ozone. As long as you filter the outgoing air through carbon, you won't smell it any other time. Now that I know what it smells like, I know what to "smell for" if there is a leak, etc.

Just smell it, you can't produce enough to hurt you. Extended exposure will give you a hangover-like headache, though.

Sorry for hitch hiking on this tread, but I have a question about ozone. Do you have to run the ozone through a skimmer or is their other ways?

You can use ozone by injecting it into an ozone reactor or chamber, but it is convenient to put it into the skimmer. Running an "ozone stone" in the tank could be dangerous to aquatic life and probably not very effective (and may give you a headache if you are running enough), which is why most people use it in a skimmer or reactor.
