Ozonizer

I am thinking about buying an Ozonizer for my tank to improve water quality and clarity but I don't know how many mg/hr ozonizer I should buy. Any suggestions??

It depends on a lot of factors. Not all ozonizers are equal. I use a Sanders 25mg/hr on my 125 with a controller and it keeps my ORP at 400 easily even though it is rated for a 50 gallon tank. It runs maybe a few hours each day.

Recommended by most manufacturers is 5 to 15 mg/hr per 25 gallons.

So splitting the difference, 150 div by 25 = 6.

6 x 10 is 60 mg/hr. I would get the 100 mg/hr unit. should do you ok. Make sure you get the kind with adjustable output. And you will need a controller and probe to monitor.

rea sea is the cheap way to go. i have one and it does a good job, on my system. ive had it for about a year and only had one issue with it which was fixed by flushing it out with RO water...

 Yeh I just heard about that and flushed my Red Sea last night. I'm just getting ready to hook it back up and see if the flushing thing works. I agree, for the money, the Red Sea w/controller built in is the most economical way to go. But if I have to keep flushing it every month or so, I'll take the Sanders unit. Been running for a year with no maintenance and no beads. No problem. :D

Red sea almost 3 years now, no beads no monitor no problems. I run mine off and on for a week or so at a time.

You lucky devil you. :D

Mine quit functioning after just short of 6 mo.

BTW - if you do not monitor ORP, how do you know it is working ?
