No, I don't have QT for it. I just put in my main tank. His tank mate is small, and only Angel in there is Flame Angel. How long have you had him? Is he in quarantine? If not what are his current tank mates? Is he picking at your live rock if he is in your display tank?
You need to try a very large variety of food with him all soaked in at least garlic.
Try Brine, Mysis, Open Clam, Butterfly and angel food...
Anything to get him some calories and after that you can wean him onto the foods you normally feed...
Where did you get him?
Pics please!!!
What is the different between NLS Thera A and Marine Fish Formula ? I feed my fish with NLS Marine Fish Formula, Sera pellets, and Frozen Mysis. Also try NLS (New Life Spectrum) Thera A.
I have been feed the tank a lot lately with different food. I didn't dip him in freshwater, just longer acclimation. I have many corals in the tank, so lower salinity (or hyposalinity) might not be a good idea. I wonder if those Reef Nutrition Artipods help.Wow! Beautifu Specimen!!!
Thanks
BUT...You need to get him eating! Pronto! If you can get to him you may want to give him a Fresh water dip for 8-10 minutes to make sure he doesn't have flukes. Also, keep the sg a little lower if possible to help raise the o2 content of the water. I would highly suggest adding small amounts of many differnt foods every 1-3 hours until he finds something he likes. Try Acrtipods for a small food as range all the way up to large Mysis and Baby spirulina enriched Brine...
Good Luck and keep us updated!!!
Sure MatthewPlease keep us updated on your progress with this species. All I can usually find on them says they have a very poor track record..

Gman107, that is not my tank, that was the container I was using to acclimate the fish. I know QT will be good idea especially for any Angel fish, but my room is very small, and no room for more tank. Future, I might turn my frag tank into QT.firstly that tank is too small for those fish to be in.try putting different algae in a clip at all times, and like the others stated try small mysis, brine shrimp the artic pods are good too if you can find them, and see if you can give him some space of his own for a little while so no other fish stresses him out:worried:. a qt tank is worth all the trouble when you start buying fish like this
If I read your post correct you have the new angel with another dwarf angel in the same tank . What size tank . This will be a problem as the flame will harass the new angel and you will more than likely lose your new fish . Go get a Q tank asap , it does not have to be big for these fish 20g will work . Put new fish in QT let it build up some strength and get it eating or it will not survive.

thanksGreat looking reef. Good luck.
thanks CraigIt looks like he has plenty of cover and hiding spots which they like so that is a good start. They are very very shy. Try mini cyclops, arctipods, mysis, and live brine shrimp. Looks like you have plenty of live rock for him to nibble on as well. Also, try rubber banding some nori to a small piece of rock and placing near his cave. If you can get him to eat you have a good chance. Most don't make it past two weeks in my experience unless they start eating. Also, try keeping the tank lights on a lower setting for a few days until he gets adjusted as again they are super shy and a deeper water fish. Good luck and keep us updated.
thanks for advices, Austin. Today i feed them frozen Mysis with Garlic, and Pellets. Good news is he took a couples bites of frozen Mysis. :bounce1::bounce1::bounce1:Daniel, it will be harder to get him to eat since there is plenty of competition existing in your tank already with other established fish. You might consider pulling him out and placing in QT to acclimate onto prepared foods.
Something I've had success with in the past with fish that don't normally eat out of the water column is taking some frozen food, thawing it out, and freezing it in half a clam shell. This works best with fish that will eat fresh clam (he very likely might - if he gest a chance), then ween them onto other frozen foods.
GL!
Good Idea Austin!
The other thing I was thinking about was even though you dont have a qt setup and cycled, you could pull him and place the Venustus into the sump to give it some alone time and have no competition for food...
great news he is eating!!!
nice. waiting to see your Japanese Venustus. Thanks! I've got a trio in my 300 and I love them! I also have a Japaneese Venustus coming in tomorrow!!!
thanks. I am pumping him up. He showed a sign wanting to come out the cave last night, but still not.Awesome news Daniel, keep pumping him full of whatever you can for a while... if he's taking anything that's a GREAT sign at this stage!
