Thanks,
You got nice specimen too.

Ryan, how is your Venustus doing ??

Yesterday I can see him make a move to the front tank and start taking NLS pellets with other fish.

Im glad to see yours is doing well Daniel!! And you too Kev!

Sadly, mine didn't make it past the first day! Its a tough fish to keep but im not sure what happened... Once he was added to his QT he just sat in one corner until he died a few hours later???

Everything was right and done properly. I did a FW dip upon placing him into the QT tank that might have not agreed with him even though i had just done a FW Dip with the 5 Resplendent anthias minutes prior and they are still doing fine...

What is kinda wierd, after talking with the supplier about him, my venustus was doing gerat in the bag. Then i pulled him to take a picture of him. The camera flashed which i didn't think anything of. I then put him in the fw dip and he sank to the bottom motionless?? I pulled him within a minute and he was never right. I talked withe the supplier and he said he had a GoldFlake die from the Shock of a camera flash before!!!

Not blaming it onthe flash, but that is one of the only things i can think of...

Mine was 3-3.25" when I got him last October. I've a deepwateer male CB that came in about a month before the Venustus. You can't tell the Venustus is a male now that his fin got nipped.

Ryan,

Very sorry to hear that. I do relieve it may be stress whether from flash or water para change such as ph change. I just bought 2 large female Pink Margin wrasse from the lfs on Sunday and I had them do a 3-4 minutes FW dip and both were never right when I took them out of the bag at home. The first one died the same night and the 2nd one is still laboring on the tank bottom. Not sure if this one is going to make it.

man that sucks too Kevin!

I always though a nice FW Dip would be a nice relief for the fishes!

I was advised to only do a FW dip if you highly suspect something...

Yes, I normally only perform FW dip if I suspect something but my gut feeling told me to do the dip at the lfs before leaving given that I've a Indo Regal in the QT from last week.

I normally perform a 4-5 minutes dip if I see something so never thought a 3-4 minute dip would stressed them out so much. I was close to the 1 hour mark on drip acclimation when I noticed one of them lying down so I stopped the drip and puted them in.

Ryan- I don't know too many people that FW dip their fish right out of the shipping bag. Major change in PH and an already stressed fish likely was not a good combo for your Venustus. A better option is a Formalin dip after you acclimate and then add to QT. Sorry about your loss.
How are the trio of Multibarred angels doing?

I've done it before with no problems! But live and learn I guess!!! I'm on the hunt for two to pair up so let me know if you hear of any!!!

On a better note, all three multibars continue to thrive!!! They are just soo much fun to watch! :fun2:

Although the flash could have spooked him I'm not so sure about that much shock induced, but ya never know I suppose...

Was this fish shipped to you Ryan?

While shipping oxygen is depleted and waste is excreted... although ammonia doesn't spike until you open the bag and introduce more oxygen to the water and pH rises. I generally add a touch of amquel to the bag right after opening - just in case (do not do this if introducing into a tank with cupramine already in it!).

Does sound like something, or maybe a combination of several things, stressed him too much.
Sorry for your loss, was a beautiful angel..
Glad the Multis are doing great though!

Ryan, sorry to hear about your loss.

I myself didn't dip them with FW when I got them home. Especially with RO water (low pH), cause it already stressed them out right out of the bag. So far I got lucky with most of the fish I have.

When dipping with RO/DI (which I do) just be sure to airate the heck out of the water for a half hour or so. Brings up O2 and pH.

The temp and ph were exactly the same so that wasn't the issue. Immediatly after I put him in the fw he sank and that was right after the camera flash!

Ryan, after you put him in FW, he sank, and did you put him back in Saltwater right away? My friend told me if your fish act weird in FW dip, put the fish in back into SW right away.
