P04 and N03 deficit

Why don't you start running your skimmer on a lights out only schedule. It's much easier to control these levels by adjusting how much time your skimmer is running rather than trying to dose something that's working against the other filtration methods you have established.

I was going to dose tonight, but when I checked my levels, my numbers are weird. My N03 is still the same, between 2 and 3, and my P04 went up to 0.03. Is this common? I checked twice.

How are your corals doing? You have been reefing for a while now, so trust your instincts. And to answer your question it is common. You are dosing 2ppm so you will have to figure out your maintenance and keep dosing it on a biweekly / weekly schedule. Some of the guys here bump it to 5ppm and wait till next week to dose again.

I thought about this too, but I remember when I used to turn off my skimmer for medication last summer (i.e., fluconazole, metro, chemiclean, etc), while AC is 24/7, my PH drops down to 7.60 at lights off. And I’m worried it will add up on my unbalanced levels and throw off my Alk consumption and dosing.

I might try this after my P04 and N03 consumption stabilized again. Thanks though!

I can’t really tell yet if the paling/bleaching stopped, or getting worse. But I think PE is a tad bit better though. Should I expect obvious progress in a few days?

Oh I see. I thought it should be dosed daily, especially that the 2ppm KN03 I dosed was all depleted/consumed in 24hrs for 2 consecutive days.

Maybe because I added 1 cube and fed reef roids daily that’s why I got more nutrients?

Actually it sounds like your system is on negative drive. Keep dosing the same amount until you see it going up.. then use the last dosage as a measurement for maintenance dosage. I'm sure you get the idea lol

My numbers are still the same without dosing yesterday night, so I wont dose again tonight. P04 is 0.03, and N03 is 3. All I did yesterday and the day before was fed 3 cubes, and fed reef roids. If these readings are still the same tomorrow night, do you guys think by adding the extra cube per day and daily feeding of reef roids gave me appropriate P04 and N03 levels?

On another note, I had to reduce 2ml of Alk dosing because my Alk level went up by 0.5 today. It's been a while since I have to make adjustment on my Alk dosing. Usually I add 1 0r 2 ml after a month or so, but this time I have to lower it. Is it because I have higher P04 and N03? Are these two have anything to do with it?

Also, I can see some kind of algae (cyano?) starting to grow on the sand, around the rocks. It's one thing after another. !&$#@ Ugh
