Pacific Sun PANDORA XM

exactly ... Whats your opinion .. are the additional T5 really needed compared to the LED only METIS ?

Well, just to add more spectrum, I guess more is better! Wonder how much this will cost.

I will send a mail to the German distributor that has offered me the METIS and ask him for pricing ... keep you informed

What do you think about this LED+T5 combination?

Cheap unit where they skimped on things they shouldn't have.

The T5's are sort of cooled and the T5 reflector is a JOKE. They only needed 2 T5's and they tried to squeeze in 4. They paid for it by using cheap reflectors.

When I first saw these they caught my interest. Once I dug deeper and looked into design, I was turned off rather quickly.

John Ciotti made some great points about the way they designed the fixture. The screws they used to hold the fixture together, really take away from the external appearance. They should have counter sunk and powder coated them to match. Instead they have multiple colors going on.

JMO on it.

A good T5/LED fixture is needed but no one has come out with one yet that is any good IMO. It is like most companies put a ton of research into the LED side or the T5 side but not both.

Look into the sfiligoi genesis LED t5. Totally over powered, but from their reputation of their other fixtures. It looks fantastic

The Sfiligoi is a nice unit but WAY too expensive. For me, I can't justify paying that much money with the horror stories I have heard about Sfiligoi.

I think their fixtures look amazing but at times they make design the top priority instead of improving the fixture itself.

I have the Metis... The screws aren't bad honestly.

I do like that they added t5s to the type of fixture, adds par and color spectrum.

This may be just what people need to get pushed over towards LEDs..

western - thanks for your comment. Are you satisfided with the METIS? I am thinking of getting one. Not sure if the additional T5 is needed. I agree that this might attract buyers that are not yet into LED only

I am satisfied. It is great! I have a 45" tank and I have the smaller Metis CRP. I wish I would've waited for the XM for the additional PAR, but that'll always happen in the industry.

The pandora actually would be longer than my tank so it isn't an option.

And as far as the reflectors being a joke, from what I've read, it's the same reflectors that ATi uses, are they that bad?

I think it's brilliant. And j think once people see it, they may really start to jump over.

ATI doesn't use those reflectors on either of their fixtures.

Rumor is that ATI supplied the reflectors for the system. Those aren't any ATI reflectors I have ever dealt with.

ATI reflectors ate the best on the market but these are NOT ATI reflectors.

When I first read that rumor, I decided to contact Oliver, the President of ATI. He confirmed to me that ATI had ZERO to do with the reflectors for this fixture. They didn't supply them or design them for Pacific Sun.

This is just false advertisement on Pacific Sun's part. It is sad really, I won't be looking into Pacific Sun anytime soon if this is the game they play.

Just want to set the record straight for everyone.
