what brand and size pump did this come from? it looks like an eheim pump. maybe a 1260? if so you might want to rethink this. a 1260 pump will cost you(marine depot) $119.00 plus shipping. where as an ocean runner pump(3700 with the needle wheel) would cost (preimum aquatics)$89.99 plus shipping. these OR pumps are great pumps. they are quiet, cool running, very efficent pumps. and the make awesome rec skimmer pumps. its a good design but i think you would be better off using that pump to feed the skimmer. if you installed a small venturie into that pump and did that to the impellor to feed the skimmer. then put an OR 3700 on to recirculate in the skimmer it might be something to look into.

woww!!!! less then $200 sgd for a OR3700.. thats a real bargain.
where i'm from an eheim cost less then $180sgd but an OR3500 with brush impeller cost at least $400sgd which is about $240usd.
but unfortunally the AM agents refuse to sell just the pumps with brush type impellers. they think it might effect their skimmer sales.
the US version pumps run on different voltage to SG... so it not possible to buy online. in fact there is no brush or needle type impeller pumps on sale in SG, no 1 bring it in. they all come complete with the skimmers... the smallest Aquabee goes for $400 sgd as well. sigh!! thats y i'm hoping someone has done some comparison so that it's not so costly to DIY a skimmer with needle type impeller.

you can purchase just the impellors from marine depot or preimum aquatics. one of the two. then install it into your or pump.

Could I just buy the Ocean Runner 3500 and use this Needle Wheel from Marine Depot? Or is this part for another OR model? The reason I ask is that the 3500 is around $63.95 and the needle wheel is $15 = $78.95 for the OR 3500 to OR 3700 conversion. In a hobby where saving money here and there can help, it might be worthwhile to save about $10 by buying the parts seperately.

that needle wheel fits the 2500 pumps. you need to get the bigger one for the 3500 pump. try priemum aquatics. i think they have the big ones.
