Pagoda Cup Coral Care

I just saw some awesome pics of these corals and decided that it would be cool to try one out. So what care needs do these need?

Are they photosynthetic or do they need to be fed often? Anything else I should know about like lighting, feeding, current?

Thanks

Pagoda or cup corals are very easy to take care of. They like high flow and will tolerate moderate flow.

Mid to high light is desirable. No target feeding is necessary as they are very good at catching food out of the water column when you food your fish.

Great beginner coral.

I was reading that certain species are very difficult to keep while others aren't, are there any distinguishing traits between the difficult and the easy ones?

And will they do good maybe 6 inches away from the lighting, its going to be 234 watts, but I have to upgrade my lighting right now. Its 96 watts now.

And when do the polyps open, I heard that some only open at night.

Thanks

The cup and flatter shaped ones are easier, larger polyps too, it the more convaluted shaped ones with more nooks and crannys for debris to build up it that are harder to keep, need lots of flow to all parts or regular basting.

Same thing IME.

On another note, I have only noticed the polyps staying closed at night on pagoda when there is somthing picking at them - like a biaaatch angel.
