Paint for Canopy Question

What type of paint should I use for my DIY canopy?

Water based or Oil based?

Spray paint or regular paint?

I was going to paint the outside of the canopy black to match the stand and the inside of the canopy white to reflect the light better. Does this sound right? I've heard others do this, just wanna make sure though.

I used laytex, brushed the out side semi gloss black and on the inside semi gloss white. hard to spray laytex

let it sit 3 days before using it so that it can harden...

Krylon makes a great spray latex.I used it to paint the back of my tank and the inside of the hood.
