Paint for canopy

Hello all,

I just built a new canopy for my tank and I'm down to the painting part. I have no idea of paint and how to paint, but I'm good at catching on and DIY. What type of paint can I use for the canopy? And is it actual paint with brush or spray cans? I heard something about polyutherane?

Please help greatly appreciated.

Thank you

For the inside I like to use rustoleum oil based white. High gloss. The oil and high gloss go a long way with sealing the wood

Outside you could use anything really. I usually use polyutherane when I am staining the wood and not painting

and IMHO the high gloss white gives an element of reflection capacity for the lights. Just my common sense not proven. :spin2:

I need to primer first right? Then paint?

What are you painting over on the exterior? What kind of wood? Treated plywood? Does it have any coating on it?

If it is just bare untreated wood you can use a combo primer/paint product (latex is fine)
