whats the exact type/name/brand of spray paint i should use on the acrylic on my skimmer and the plastic on a pump to help give my tank a cleaner look ?? for the stuff that will be under water .

Black of course.

I would personally get a paint--spray/brush/roll--that has low to zero VOC's in it. You don't want any of the harmful fumes to be sucked in by your skimmer and thus, create havoc in your system.

Paint is made w/tons of toxins and chemicals that are harmful not just to us humans, but also animals such as your tank mates. Some of these chemicals can release fumes for a good amount of time. Imagine that being sucked in by your skimmer and mixing it into your tank? I used a zero VOC to paint the stand on my 72 bowfront tank that I built along w/glass (back glass panel). My .02 here.

well im just worried about toxic stuff after its dry because its gonna be in the tank. but i know you got to let it dry for at least a day in the sun also to make sure its dry. any more suggestions. i know ive seen them on here but cant remember which builds or where.

Yeah, precisely. Paints come packed with pretty harmful chemicals that are the bonding agents and since you are going to be painting the skimmer, you still will leach chemicals in your tank regardless of how long its been out in the sun to cure. Salt water has a knack to break down everything even the strongest of paints such as epoxies that are used on shipping vessels.

I would advise not to paint it. However, if you still want to paint it and going more for aesthetics, I would still suggest to go the zero VOC route. This is piece of mind when you introduce the painted body skimmer into your tank, that there are no harmful chemicals leaching into your system. Lowes carries the Valspar brand that I used w/zero VOC's in it in jet black. It wasn't the spray in the can though. I am quite sure that if you do some research on the net for zero VOC spray paints, I am sure you will run into something.

i have read people using the krylon fusion paint with no prolems inside their tanks,

i have used the purple primer on white pvc to give it more of a coraline look until the coraline took over.
