paint removal

I have several tanks that are painted on the bottom (exterior). I want to remove the paint. Is it safe to use a liquid paint remover? I don't want to harm the silicone.

Don't know if the tank is glass, but if so, I've gotten all the paint off of two glass tanks within minutes by using a razor. It peeled right up. I just had to vaccuum up the paint flakes, but I think it was less messy than liquid remover. Easiest clean up I've had for anything involving a tank!

A single sided razor blade (with holder) will make short work of it. I've changed colours on the back glass this way a couple of times and its not hard.
