are there any issues with painting the inside of my glass overflow? i want to hide the white stand pipes. also what paint should be used? it will dry for at least a full week before it even see's water.

Yes you can. But you have to use the kryon fusion spray paint. Its best to let it cure for about 4 days or so longer the better. I used it in my overflow the I made out of acrylic.

tray unfortunately paint, glass and water dont mix :( it peels right off.
eddie your rock wall looks great but i really want to be able to scrape the overflow/backwall clean, and like most ppl i really just want the overflow to match the back wall lol. Why does it have to be so hard!!!!!!! acrylic inserts are poopy and even black glass(good look finding some for a reasonable price) would look out of place.
After much thought and disappointment im gonna leave the overflow clear and instead sand and paint the pvc pipes/couplers with some gloss black Krylon fusion so it matches the bulkhead and strainer and somewhat blend in. its the best solution i can think of

How about window tint. I'm not sure if its inert. But with a little research maybe it will be your solution.

You can use black PVC. You can also look into some thin acrylic or plastic sheet and silicone in place.

i wouldnt trust window tint to stay put for too long. the thin plastic siliconed in place is not a good look IMO. Black PVC would be alot better than painting the white pvc but ive never seen it anywhere. does anybody know where i can get some locally?
i appreciate the suggestion eddie, if all else fails i will end up making somekind of rockwall its definatly the best alternative

Well Im speaking from experience bro. My tank overflow has been painted black for 3 years now with no peeling or reef issues. I would never suggest something if I didnt try it or havent seen long success behind it.

tray your overflow is acrylic which can be painted with fusion paint. mine is glass, i did a test pane with latex, oil based and some other paint i had around and it peels and chips right off the glass under running water. i read on another forum one guy painted his glass overflow and then glued a second piece of glass over it so the water wouldnt come in contact with the paint but that is just too much for me.

hey rovster is savko local? your setup looks real slick btw! can you post a FTS from the front

was reading thru another thread regarding the same issue and one guy said he sandblasted his glass and then painted it and it has been holding strong for 2-3yrs. what do you guys think? i happen to have a sandblaster and could easily get the same effect with 80grit on a orbital sander. OPINIONS PLEASE!!!

No, its online. The site is very rudimentary, but you can call them, they are very nice, and you get your order very quick. I used them for most of my plumbing. Prices are very good.

Here is a FTS, still not wet:hmm2:

Doors off at the moment, will hang them when it comes in the house!

VERY nice setup you got going there! i might have to spend the extra money and just get smoked glass and black plumbing. savko looks awsome great selection of black fittings and the $10 shipping sure beats running around town in traffic frustrated cause i cant find what i want lol. thanks rovster
