i think i successfully paired up a set of small beautiful juvenile maroons, about 1.25-1.5" each. they immediately went in RBTA, and really don't leave it much. they sleep together in it. too. i'm thinking of getting a GBTA and a pair of bigger perculas. will this work or will there be a war. i figured i might do it now while the maroons are small.

Not a good idea.

But if your really want to. Place the GBTA on the opposite side of the tank and when you add the percs add them where the GBTA is hoping they will go right in and not wonder in to the Maroons territory.

Good Luck

Sams right, it's a gamble mixing clowns. I've been lucky.
My anemones are at each end of the tank. My other clowns are
ocellaris/ false percs, which often don't host.
Mine do, but they don't live for it like my maroon.
My maroon will actually leave his main anenome to spit brine into the other.
He might gently let the percs know who's in charge, but they're
passive to him. I think that's why they get along.
of course I know that could change w/ age

I wouldnt,
i added a second BTA to my 8' reef as i planned on adding a second pair of clowns with my pair of toms hosting at the other end.
Within an hour of the second BTA going in the toms went back and forward between the two hosts! And they have been like this ever since, so i have put the BTA's side by side and they still host them both. My second pair of clowns are black saddlebacks. They took to some xenia, which i then moved to the opposite end of the reef.

The morale being Maroons, like toms have a very strong hosting instinct. If you really want a second pair in their, i would add a host that the maroons wouldnt accept!

But good luck whatever you decide to do!
