For the last few months I have been working very diligently trying to get two of my fish to pair up, after the first week of working with them I decided that I would be happy if they simply did not kill each other. :hmm2::hmm2::hmm2:

I started with a small two inch juvenile in an elos 120. Then I acquired another small juvenile, which went into the qt to gain her strength and get hit with some medz. I finally was ready to introduce the fish and I divided the dt with egg crate. I put the new fish on one side and kept the other on the opposite side. The existing fish went crazy and was trying to kill the other through the crate. I figured it would subside over time. Well it didn't, and the fish continually fought through the crate for several weeks. About three weeks ago the aggression subsided and the fish looked like they wanted to be together. I removed the crate world war three took place. I reseperated the fish and walk, walked away discouraged. Two weeks ago I removed the crate and just watched, the fight begN but not nearly as aggressively this time. Like a bad father I fell asleep and woke to two hungry fish begging for food.a No aggression, No nipping, No chasing just peace. The fish were not overly friendly but just ignored each other. As of one week ago......... Everything has changed

These fish now stay side by side and nuzzle each other. I know they are not mature enough to spawn, but they sure seem to have paired off........ FINALLY
:D:D:D

While these fish were in the big display tank they would not get along. So I caught both of them (which was easy as they will eat from my specimen box and eat from my hand :)) and put them in the QT. I kept them divided and the put them together. I guess the new environment worked for them ;)

wow, very happy this worked out for you! they're beautiful! makes me want to try some bandits eventually.

P.S. - I got something you might be VERY interested to hear about last week. PM me if you'd like to know!

Awesome Michael! The pair looks sweet. I'm glad that they are both are doing well for you.

Very nice. About how big are they? What are they eating now?

BTW, I feel really geeky for noticing the ammonia alert badge right away. Those things have got to be the best bang for your $5 you can get in this hobby :)

WOW thats great news Michael! And the fish look gorgeous! I can't wait until they are mature enough to spawn.
