Pair

ok, i was thinking about following fish in pair if possible:

- Pair of Oscellaris clowns
- Pair of Royal Gramma
- Pair of Green Chromis
- Pair of Yellow Tail damsels

I also like to keep:

Yellow tang
Swallowtail angel (female)
Red spotted blenny
Pear jawfish

Questions:

- What do you think about this fish list?
- Do you think if i introduce two royal gramma at the same time, will that help them pair up? Should i buy two in different sizes?
- Will pair of yellow tail damsel work or they will be very aggressive to other fish after they pair up? I am planning to add them last.
- Will having two green chromis, help them pair up? Overall they are damsel so i am assuming they can change sex according to their size.

Any other recommendations?

Id either go with the clowns or the chromis being that their fairly docile oppose to the aggressive damsels or grammas.

If you cant get a pre-matched pair, dont try it. They will more than likely kill one another.

Very aggressive but may be alright. i wouldnt recommend tho.

I don't see your tank size anywhere -- that is a factor

Don't know anything about pairing up grammas - sorry
If your tank is big enough, you can have all of the others together. The yellowtails should be similar to the fish I have experience with which is C.Hemicyanea. These damsels stay quite small - smaller than the chromis and readily spawn in your tank. Mine enjoy a large whelk shell to spawn in . They are aggressive to newcomers, but I've never had a newcomer that didn't work things out in a couple of days.

All the fish damsels, chromis, and clowns are similar in pairing - get juveniles of different sizes (within each pair) and there will be less bickering on which fish is dominant and spawning may begin sooner

HTH

Good fish list IMO and good idea adding the damsels last - I would add the jawfish first and give him plenty of time to feel - comfortable - you could add him with the clowns

Thanks for replies. It's going to be 90G setup. Good advise on gramma. I think i will just get one gramma instead of trying to get the pair.

Do you recommend any other fish that i can keep in pair?

pair of firefish (helfrich are awesome but pricey)
pair neon gobies
pair of clowns
pair of yasha hashe gobies w/ shrimp
and pair of something else of your choice :)

I managed to pair up grammas in my old 75g by getting one significantly smaller then the other and adding them at the same time. There was some chasing in the first week but they sorted it out.

Unfortunately the biggest one attacked my urchin that was in his cave and ended up dying from what appeared to be a bacterial infection in his mouth. Never did get another

I had a pair of pearly jawfish, I see that you're thinking about getting an individual. My jaws were spawning regularly in the tank, within just a couple of months of going into the tank. I just lucked into a breeding pair though, you can't id their gender based on appearance. I do enjoy watching fish in pairs though, planning on a pair of angels to be my next addition.

Are Jawfish jumpers? Are they easy to pair? Do they change sex like damsels? THanks for all your suggetions.

They are jumpers (cover tank with eggcrate)
I believe they are born male or female, they don't change gender.
