Pairing Clown Question

So I bought a clown pair on Saturday and put them in my tank. One went down the overflow and got stuck in the drain and died within 24 hours. It was the smaller of the two, but they didn't seem paired yet. Should I worry about adding another clown? I don't want to accidentally add another clown and both try to dominate then kill each other.

I'm my opinion if u add a new clown I would try to make the new 1 a little bit bigger... I had good success when adding new clowns that way. The new one wont get dominated that way while it gets familiar with the tank...

I actually had a similar problem a couple years ago.
My mistake seemed to be that my replacement clown was the same size as the survivor. They never got along and had to be seperated. The new, new replacement I got was much smaller than my survivor and they've been cool ever since even though they're close to the same size now.
They start off male but keep in mind that if a clown lives alone for too long (or if it is already female) it will turn female and get stuck in that gender so if your clowns were alone at the store you may have already have had two females.
My advice would be to get a markedly smaller replacement that is in a tank with other clowns (and is not the largest clown in the tank, obviously).
