Pairing clownfish?

Do you have to buy a pair of clownfish or can you just buy two and hope they pair together? I know this is a stupid question, but I'm not sure.

you do not have to buy a pair but you cant simply just buy two, depending on the clown it might be hard to pair tho, occelaris and percula are easy, get a larger one and then a small one, if they are the same size or close to it, the harder it will be fore them to pair

Thanks. I was planning on getting occelaris or percs, but not sure at the moment. The LFS has a pair of Clark's that I like, but I'm afraid they might get too big for my 29 BC.
