My existing Percula is roughly 3". I just added a small Percula, roughly 1", I was told on RC the smaller the better.
My new Percula has been hanging out next to my overflow the whole day, while my existing clown is sort of where she (Calling a she because she will most likely be the dominate because of the size, if they do pair ) is always at.
I know it could be dangerous adding the smaller fish to my tank but I decided to risk it, I really want a pair. How soon should I begin to see results... good results or bad results? My bigger clown fish nipped at him a couple times when I first introduced the new fish to the tank, but that was only a couple times... she seems to have left him alone for the rest of the day.
Would an anenome help them pair faster? I have a BTA but they don't even come near it. I hear they love carpet aneneme's... just afraid to get those because they are MUCH more difficult to keep.
the anemone will make little or no differnce in pairing. As long as they aren't fighting let them be. Eventually they'll pair up or start fighting. As they grow they'll eventually choose a sex. That's when you're likely to see more aggressive pairing behavior. My guess is that your little guy is simply too small at this point to be considered a pairable fish by the larger fish. I'd think that in 2-3 months he'll grow enough (assuming you feed aggressively) to start pairing.
