Pajama Cardinals

I am interested in putting a small school of PJ cardinals in a 100 I am building. What sorts of hiding spaces will I need? How many should I keep together? Will they hide in LR or hang out in the open areas of the tank? What will they eat? Anything else I need to know?

Sorry for posting such an open question but I really know very little about PJs.

I had 5 in my 180, before moving & downsizing. They seemed to get along well, unlike multiple bangaii. Grow pretty large. Need lots of hiding places to scurry to when threatened, but usually in the open above the reef.

I had one or two eat some flakes but their diet staple is frozen, esp. mysis. They love most other standard frozen foods and mine eat floating pieces of clam from my copperband feedings.

I only kept two after moving and the other three went to my friends 180. We worried as he has an older bangaii but they all school together. So far, and thats been near a year now.

Thanks for the info. I am glad to hear they thrive on meaty frozen foods. I usually feed a variety throughout the week and would not want to be forced to feed flakes at every meal!

Again, any more info is greatly appreciated.

These guys, if I get them, will be going in with a couple clownfish, a tang and maybe some fairy/flasher wrasse in a 100g. Any compatability issues there?

Never seen them bothered by any fish, except themselves. My Kole tank use to dash at them the odd time, when they peed him off for whatever reason.

My percs were fine. The three large ones I gave away, went into a tank with large Cinnamon clowns and they never bothered them. But then members of the clownfish family can be unpredictable & stubborn.

They usually form loose aggregations, so a handful of individuals per given area (no clue how much area, but I would give plenty of room) should work out just fine. As Flatlander said, there should be no issues.

Do these fish "school"? I mean I know there is no real schooling in tanks, but do they hang out together?
