the second morph was auctioning for 90.00 BIN and there's another up that's going for $100 right now. i wish i got them when they were $90!

if you dont mind me asking, where did you get them from, and for how much?? just curious, b/c as i'm sure you know we've been seeing these 2 morphs popping up all over the place besides just atlantis aquarium over in Cali.

oh yeah, they look great! :)

Tulsa, $50 for about 50 polyps what a steal, everyone will have to pry them from my zoo greedy hands, or trade me something awesome. not that great of a pic

good find! like i said, these are coming in all over the country, and are becoming relatively common. i'm just glad you didnt give into paying $10/polyp like some people are doing.

and besides, by posting how much you paid for them, maybe other people will learn not to buy them from those greedy businesses trying to sell that at $10/polyp

so you think that marking prices up to match what everyone else is selling them for is bad? I recently delt with a guy on ebay who was selling his frags on another reef forum. he had them up on ebay for 3-4 times more. i asked and he said it was because atlantis aquarium was selling a similar colony for the same price. mind you these werent purchased from AA b/c he was selling them much much cheaper and in bulk before the auction was posted. so there was no cost to recoup.

i dunno.

I don't like to charge more than $5 a polyp, unless it's something I'm having a hard time letting go for. A 5 polyp piece at $25 is a good deal for a gorgeous zoo, and will expand to 10-15 polyps with good wq in no time. Aquacultured corals should cost more!!!!!!

just b/c one person is selling them for $10/polyp, doesnt mean everyone has to does it? logically, why would a person buy the same exact thing from one place for $10/polyp, when they can get a 50/polyp colony for $50 or less? common sense. by buying things at marked up prices, that can easily be found for less, you are just perpetuating the inflation of the hobby.

it should be expensive these are living animals (not a bag of chips)and if you take care of them they will multiply rapidly. If your a smart shopper and get good deals great for you but I will sell my beauties for $5 a polyp, and others for $2. My rpe will not sell for less than$10, and closer to $15. I am willing to pay $25 for purple deaths and ppe, because I know they will take off in my tank and soon I will be able to charge half what
I payed, which is the pattern I follow with expensive zoos. The paly's I picked up for $50 I will sell for $5 apiece. Part of aquaculture is realizing the expense of the person propagating the corals. There must be a profit.

i also just recently purchased a colony of those second ones. i paid 36 for it and it has 30-40 polyps on it, however they are extended a bit, 1-2". anyways i had never seen any like it so i had to get them... are they going for alot or what? i may have to get a frag or 2 of them.

i just dont want to sell my stuff for cheap and have someone else sell a frag of that frag for twice as much. that would **** me off.

another thing, i just dont like people that are buying colonies and fragging off small portions and selling at inflated prices. sure, aquaculturing should cost more, but how many people are aquaculturing and NOT proforming smash and grab? there's a local business thats really popular around here that frags coral colonies (acros) bought at wholesale (dirt cheap) and sells a 1" frag for as much as they paid for the colony. this is a horrible practice b/c it brings in any joe who has a wholesalers license to buy coral, frag it, sell it and make a profit without doing any work, or knowing anything about the animal. as you can see from the immense surge of ebayers and other online vendors this is certainly the case.

i guess there are many people propagating their own stuff too, but i dunno. its hard to tell the difference sometimes.

I sell to my local stores at the prices mentioned above and sometimes they do request that I frag a piece for them so they can make more.

What not adding in is the amount of cost for your lfs, and especially the cost of an individual who is most of the time waiting for a frag to be ready.
I have yet to visit a store repeatidly and not see a dead fish or two. All corals seem to somewhat live and die at will. You've seen the Tank, stunning loaded with coral, and in it will be two or more bleeching corals.
Stores and individuals take a chance(to some extent) on every piece they buy.
I personaly feel that LFS takes the biggest blow in that department. No I do not own a fish store I'm a propagator. Any time your order online or from an indivdual you take a big chance in shipping and overall health of the piece.

Get what you can get for it. Just make sure the money goes into your tank, Or tanks if your lucky like me.

I will pay the price if it's really that wicked.

how about free! thats what I paid...LOL neener neener!! LOL
